In Memoriam - John O'Toole, 40

John Francis O'Toole, Jr., 40, Johnny "Good Guy", of Brainard Rd., Enfield, died Tuesday, (July 5, 2005) at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after years of valiantly struggling to overcome Juvenile Diabetes and its' consequences.

Born in Hartford, Johnny lived in the Enfield community for most of his life and had been a communicant of St. Martha's Church. He attended Prudence Crandall School and was a member of the Class of '83 at Fermi High School in Enfield. He was most recently employed with the Harland Printing Co., and previously had been employed with Hallmark Cards and the Interstate Tire Co. Throughout his struggles with his illness, his many friends stood by him and called him, Johnny "Good Guy" O'Toole, because in their own words, "he lived life without a lot, but gave a lot to his friends and family; he loved life, loved to give, loved to laugh and make people laugh."

Johnny was an active member of the Enfield Elks Lodge #2222 for the past 17 years. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and a big Tony Steward fan, and also enjoyed water sports. He is survived by his parents, John and Lauretta (Lessard) O'Toole of Enfield; a brother, David Patrick O'Toole; a sister, Bernadette Marie Johnson and her husband, Mark; a niece and nephew, Nicole and Matthew Johnson; and his uncle, Paul Lessard, all of Enfield; several cousins; aunts and uncles; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. at 9:15 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Martha's Church, Brainard Rd., with Johnny's uncle, Rev. Coleman O'Toole as the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield. Johnny's family will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Fri. from 4-8 p.m. The Elks Service, conducted by his brother Elks at Lodge #2222, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
