John Francis O'Toole,
Jr., 40, Johnny "Good Guy", of Brainard Rd., Enfield, died Tuesday, (July 5,
2005) at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after years of
valiantly struggling to overcome Juvenile Diabetes and its' consequences.
Born in Hartford, Johnny lived in the Enfield community for most of his life
and had been a communicant of St. Martha's Church. He attended Prudence
Crandall School and was a member of the Class of '83 at Fermi High School in
Enfield. He was most recently employed with the Harland Printing Co., and
previously had been employed with Hallmark Cards and the Interstate Tire Co.
Throughout his struggles with his illness, his many friends stood by him and
called him, Johnny "Good Guy" O'Toole, because in their own words, "he lived
life without a lot, but gave a lot to his friends and family; he loved life,
loved to give, loved to laugh and make people laugh."
Johnny was an active member of the Enfield Elks Lodge #2222 for the past 17
years. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and a big Tony Steward fan, and also
enjoyed water sports. He is survived by his parents, John and Lauretta (Lessard)
O'Toole of Enfield; a brother, David Patrick O'Toole; a sister, Bernadette
Marie Johnson and her husband, Mark; a niece and nephew, Nicole and Matthew
Johnson; and his uncle, Paul Lessard, all of Enfield; several cousins; aunts
and uncles; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. at 9:15 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens
Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10
a.m. in St. Martha's Church, Brainard Rd., with Johnny's uncle, Rev. Coleman
O'Toole as the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's King Street
Cemetery, Enfield. Johnny's family will receive relatives and friends at the
Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Fri. from 4-8 p.m. The Elks Service,
conducted by his brother Elks at Lodge #2222, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on
Friday.
